Men
All men wake up in the morning wanting to be a success! They want to be part of a mission, a cause, a purpose that is significant. When they look back over their lives they want to be able to say, "My life counted for something!" But there is a problem; a huge problem: "Many, if not most, of our cultural problems-divorce, abortion, juvenile crime, fatherlessness-can be traced back to the failure of a man" (No Man Left Behind, pg. 31). This is not meant to berate men, but to let them know just how important they are.
The decisions men make have huge consequences. Yet the media portrays men-usually in the role of a husband or father-as mindless and spineless oafs who must rest on the wit and wisdom of either a wife or a child to help through even the simplest of decisions and tasks. Many men have bought into this view though few would admit it because they have not done so knowingly.
In light of this, what does Northwest want to do to help men? We want to help men
give their life to the ultimate mission-following Jesus Christ,
develop all of the relationships in their sphere with this mission in mind, and
offer a reasonable explanation as to why the first two are so difficult and a personal system that will help them succeed
The Men's Ministry at Northwest Community Church, is not a particular group of men that meet for Bible study, nor a set number of men who are active in this or that ministry. We believe every man at Northwest Community is part of the men's ministry, for each is a "Point Man" in his sphere of influence. Therefore we offer multiple entry points in an effort to involve every man at Northwest in the lifelong process of living a life of significance, a life that is well lived, a life that makes a difference for the good. We accomplish this through the regular teaching ministry of NWCC, encouraging participation in a Life Group, personal Bible study, and suggesting helpful literature, promoting seminars and conferences, holding informal discussions, and offering leadership training.
